Somerset Speech Therapy offers individualized outpatient speech and language therapy. Based on the results of the speech and language evaluation, a treatment plan is developed with a focus on areas of need and concern. Both long term and short term goals are established and performance data is obtained at each session to monitor and measure a child’s progress.
The speech-language pathologist and parent decides together whether a parent will sit in and observe the session or if a parent will remain in the waiting room and join at the end of the session to review goals and performance. This decision is very individualized based on each child.
A home program is provided for all children. Some home programs are very informal with suggestions on how to incorporate new communication skills at home during the child’s daily routine, play and conversation. In some cases, more formal home programs are provided such as articulation books with pictures of words that target a new speech sound.

Through ongoing consultation, progress updates, and home programs, we provide parents with the tools they need to help their child learn and grow.
